PostSubject: The First Class   The First Class EmptyTue May 01, 2012 10:09 pm

The headmaster awaited his many students, the portal to the island shining behind him. Not everyone would attend, and he knew this, but he figured word would spread around and it would be a good chance to introduce the children to his criteria. At each of his side, the guardians waited, here to assist with the lessons. He folded his hands firmly behind his back, waiting for the first to arrive.

Irene smiled softly. This island was unlike any other place that could be found on a map. There were students every year who seemed to be overwhelmed, and those who ignored the orders of the guardians and simply -- couldn't find their way back. She was curious as to who would those certain few could be this time around.

ooc;; Feel free to post and chat with each other while you wait for class to start. The headmaster and the guardians will be standing here and staring at you all meanwhile.
We're running through the portal at 4PM Pacific time tomorrow. There will be no late arrivals after that.

Eric was one of the first to arrive. He didn't want to be late, and used his gift to get there quickly. Awkwardly he noticed there were practically no people there, so he say there and waited for others to arrive.

Alexi had come through the portal for the first lesson. He thought it was important to attend all of them, and for the meanwhile he stood next to his favorite person, himself at age 5. It was most common to see the young boy with the sixteen year old.

Louis thought the first class would be fun and a chance to meet more people. She liked her roomies. They had a liking for music, except Rose a little. But the other two, boys, had a certain need to hum.

Lynn stood, looking at the portal. Even though she knew her gift well, she didn't know how to use it properly and it was unfortunately very weak. The things she had heard about the Island were truly terrible. Even so, she didn't show it.

Alex leaned against a wall, looking at each student carefully. He loved the Island for none other than the fact that it was a great way to opt out the... More stubborn, students.

Carter was next to come, and he nearly shook with excitement. Finally, real training would begin! He had trained before on his own, but now he would be taking a class on it- that was even better than reading about it! As he waited for the others to show, he wondered how this class would actually go- what was suppose to happen?

Melody soon followed, looking up and in amazement at the shiny portal behind the ugly man. she hummed a song stuck in her head.

Alex was just, nearly, frozen in place. He shook. Not with cold, or with excitement. But more with fear. There were so many people around. What was he to do? Maybe saying hi would stop the fear. So the little blonde boy disappeared, and Alexi walked up to a blonde girl whom looked younger than him. She had some brown highlights underneath the blonde.

"Hello. I'm Alexi." He said, with a sweet smile. He held the shaking back, and decided he needed his little self, and so the little blonde, green eyed boy appeared again.

Lou approached Felix. He was her roomie. "Hey." She said with a smile.

A new blonde girl stepped through the portal, tripping slightly. Her cheeks burned red in embarrassment, and she smoothed her shirt as she moved away from the transportation device. Her fingers were slowly disappearing, but she concentrated, and they went back to normal, leaving her shaky.

The next person to show up was Sarah in her usual outfit with her hair pulled back underneath a khaki colored bandanna. She had her hands shoved into the pockets of her jacket and her gaze locked on the ground as she walked up to the group, hoping she wouldn't be noticed. Staying around the edge of the crowd, she only got to where she could hear the headmaster if he actually needed to say something.

Lena stepped through the portal, and as she did she noticed the large group beginning to gather. She looked around for and open spot close by so she could hear the headmaster, and when she found one she moved towards it. Next thing she just stood there like she had been there the whole time hoping with the emotions, and stuff around her powers wouldn't act up.

A boy walked from the portal with a tall girl at his side, his blue eyes took in his surroundings. He glanced up at the girl that he had come with, and walked away, wanting to find someone else to talk with, as she didn't talk that much.
Hedia could hear Wendell walk away, and stood away from the others as she didn't want to talk to anybody.

It wasn't easy, setting aside their differences. Alex and his artistic integrity, dressing in non-matching, wild, untamed clothing with equally strange hair. His plaid blue shirt and his black jeans and sneakers made the girl he walked with nauseous; how can anyone bear to live with themselves like that? Behind his mop of red hair, his blue eyes were bright and sparkled with life. Everything he saw was one hundred different possibilities -- the boy was practically brimming with creative talent.

The girl, on the other hand, saw things only for face value. Many would regard her as wise, but Alex saw her as bland. She had her straight, brown hair cut at a respectable length and she wore appropriate makeup as not to make her look like some kind of streetwalker . . . she practically shuddered at the thought. Her blue skirt was of a respectable length, and her blouse covered enough of her chest, but exposed her shoulders a little too much. This couldn't be mistaken as . . . "free," could it?

Nonetheless, the two -- or four, rather -- walked together towards the other students. Not because they were friends, or that they even approved of the other. They wanted to make sure everyone understood they were on good terms and that an outburst would not happen again. . and besides, neither Alex or Trina wanted to walk somewhere alone.

"Act like we're friends," Katrina ordered under her breath, a smile on her face towards the others.

"Act like you don't have a stick up your -- hey!" Alex stopped, as she promptly stepped on his foot. He didn't say anything after that.

Nathaniel was the last to walk into the room. Irene suddenly stood up straighter, knowing the class was about to start, and elbowed Alex in the rib, signaling that he should get up and do the same. Time to make some impressions.

The headmaster cleared his throat and waited for the silence to die down. "I assume you all know why you have been invited here." He spoke loud and clearly, "Here at Beata Academy, you have the opportunity to learn many things, such as skills with weapons, art, music, and so on. Our curriculum on it's own already exceeds by far the ones of your normal high-school, and is comparable to some of the top colleges in the world.
"Why you are here, though, why you were so specially chosen to come here is to hone your gift. Your abilities. You have come to learn to focus your powers and better yourselves. The place in which you are about to go into is no place that could be found on earth, for it is in it's own realm. There you will meet both beautiful and fearsome creatures, both of legend and beyond your imagination. It is expected of you to follow the orders of the teachers and your guardians. If you don't, I assure you, you will die.
"Do remember that any and all monumental progress in your abilities must be reported to me at once. You may find me in my office during your free hours. Now, let the school year begin."
The man looked over each of the young students and paved a path through the crowd, heading out of the room and back to his quarters in the school.

"You heard him!" The young Irene suddenly stepped up, "Get up now and huddle together. There's no way in hell we're ever going to have the time to transport you all one by one, so we'll all leave together. When the class had finished squishing themselves together, Irene, as well as the other guardians, had seemed to activate a sort of charm. The portal, a floating orb of multiple colors, disappeared momentarily; reappearing as a blinding ring around the students. "Be warned, you might get a little queasy." She called, a small smile on her face.
In one sharp flash, they all were gone.

The group would reappear not a few moments later in a strange place. The ground below their feet was damp and the sky above them had no sun, but an everlasting white light that seemed to be coming from nowhere. The sound of the ocean could faintly be heard, and almost nothing could be seen through the vast surrounding rainforest, fill with plants that had never before been seen on earth. If one looks closely enough, a few meters away was a path seemingly lead up hill. At the top of the path would be their destination, the ancient buildings where the usual classes took place.

The strange ball of light appeared behind the group, the portal key back to their world. A shrill, monsterous cry could be heard in the distance, but Irene simply ignored it.

"While we are here, it is strictly forbidden to travel alone. You must go in the groups assigned to you. For now, we will all walk together. Take a few moments to collect yourselves and look around, but stay in this clearing." you have permission to let your imagination run wild. cx

ooc;; and please excuse my tardiness, real life came crashing in. cx I'll try to be more punctual from now on.
post asap plz. c:

(IMAGINATION!!! YES, FUCK YEAH EBS, I LOVE YOU

... Awkward silence .u.)

Eric huddled up in the group as they were teleported, and was temporarily blinded as they arrived in this new place. He had been shocked enough, and lonely, when he first came to the school. But this place itself, this foreboding, dark, evil place, emanated feelings of death and of hatred. No sooner had he thought that than he heard a monstrous roar in the distance. He cringed and then remembered what Irene said about being queasy before they left. He staggered a bit and almost fell, clutching his temple. But then it passed, and he reverted to a normal posture. Then he began examining the surroundings.
The leaves themselves were a dark green, far darker than any other plant in the world, had existed, exists or would exist. All of the plants were like that, that same shade of dark green that seemed if you got too close to it, it would just absorb your soul and leave an empty shell behind, that same dark green that seemed to give off that foreboding feeling. It was... monstrous, abominable.
Then, the trees themselves. Their bark seemed to shimmer in different lightings. As the light filtered through those evil leaves, it touched on the bark and made it swim from brown to black and back. Whispers passed through as this happened, a single whisper passing through the leaves. Inaudible, Eric paid it no heed, at first. Then it collected in strength, echoing off the trees and getting louder, turning to a ear-splitting screech. But then it found no more trees, and like that, it vanished. More whispers came, but none are tortuous as the first. They traveled through the leaves, making them shimmer as well and turning the same way the bark did, darker and darker. But as the light went through them, they lightened, only to darken again from the whispers.
Then the light itself. Where did it come from? Did this foreign place have it's own lighting, or did it share our own sun? Eric looked to the sky to find it darkened with clouds. And in darkened, he meant almost black. But from a single circle of white light, shimmering in the dark, he found it shining down on this dark place.
Eric yearned to find the water, splashing against the shores in the distance... but in that same second he quelled it by again looking at his surroundings.
The hill seemed normal, apart from the wretched grass that covered it. At the top, the ground fell away, so it was the only hill in near flatland, from what he could see. At the top it was utterly flat, making it ideal for keeping classes at, so Eric could see why they would pick there.
The strange ball of light, even, seemed dark. But lighter than anything else around them. He wanted to touch it. He could feel pure power coming from it, unlike anything other he had seen before. But he knew he would be killed or removed from the academy before he could reach it.
The scary part was... he didn't know which was worse.

Al had been standing silently, now alone for the fear of people grew more and more. His emotions seemed to control his ability a little. The girl whom he'd said hi to hadn't said hi back, and now wasn't the time to talk. The Headmaster was speaking.

Lou gratefully took the spot next to Felix, and realized it was pointless as soon as she sat down. The Headmaster gave a somewhat short speech, and then they were to head through the portal standing behind him. She stood, with a large sigh, and headed to crowd in with the rest of the group.

Alex suddenly felt like having a break down. They were all getting closer. Squishing in next to him. He felt suddenly claustrophobic as well as afraid of people. The large group was all around him. He started to rock back and forth. Closed his eyes, rubbed his hands together. The little boy appeared next to him once again. But then was gone the next second.

Louis just stood calmly. A little nauseous? That would be no problem. She was a southern gal, she lived in hot areas. Nausea was common in the heat. She looked back to make sure Felix had followed her, and then started walking forward into the portal.

Alexi was nauseous before they entered the portal. He felt hot, and sick, and maybe he was going to die. That would be the worst way to die. They headed closer to the portal and suddenly....through a large wave of nausea, Al nearly fell to the ground. Which he noticed was squishy with damp.

Lou coughed a quick cough, and then looked for Felix. They had made it through. There was a distant howl, and a small squeal. They were to head up that hill together. That must be where class was going to be held.

This is going to be the worst school year ever, Al thought. He had forgotten how bad the portal moving was. But he had never been afraid of people last year.
